GOOD TIMES

Last Friday, Nikki, Molly, and Liberty and me met for lunch! It was so great to see everyone and to talk about each other's crazy lives! We had the best time catching up and meeting little Nevie and Laexin for the first time. The babies were so good to let us visit and talk for a few hours. Thanks girls, its just what I needed, it was so great to see you all!

Molly took this with her almost dead camera, so next time we meet for lunch, we'll get her in there for sure!

I got a new calling as the Laurel's Advisor a couple weeks ago. I have been pretty nervous, I feel like I'm still young like them, so, how am I supposed to teach them??? Oh wait, I'm not that young anymore, I do have 7-10 years on those girls and I have had some experiences along the way... So last night was my first mutual in seven years, and those nervous feelings were creeping up on me again. But, I went, and it was so funny, because NOTHING has changed. All the boys were on one side of the room, all the girls on the other. The boys were conducting opening exercises, it was hysterical, they weren't prepared at all, one kid got up to do the scripture and he said, "I think Mosiah once said that we should live righteously... or whatever." I was cracking up! The groups split, and all the the young women played Scategories together, while eating M & M's, mini candy bars, and cookies (of which I did not take a single bite, major accomplishment). I was still nervous, but as the game got going, the girls just opend right up to me, and it was so fun. When I first got there, I thought, okay, one hour, and I'm out of here, maybe they don't even need me to stay since I'm just an advisor... but after two hours, I was having a great time, and couldn't believe two hours had gone by. I wanted to go home and read my high school journal, just to compare the experiences, it was just so funny to me how not too much has really changed.

I feel like I am already learning from these girls, and hopefully they can learn something from me. They are so talented, smart, and beautiful, it really gives me hope for the future and raising kids in this weird world. I am starting to loose the nervous feelings and try to look at this as a great learning experience!

Just another quick note about learning. I'm trying to learn Chinese... my husband bought me the Rosetta Stone learning disks for Valentines last year, and I'm really struggling. I guess I'm pushing it a little harder lately because we leave in exactly three weeks from today!!! Wish me luck, because I am getting a little more freaked out each day!
